Nodegoat: a web-based research environment for the humanities

Working with nodegoat: an Introduction to Historical Data Analysis and Visualisation: nodegoat is a web-based research environment for the humanities. It allows scholars to store vague dates, historical regions, and is able to create diachronic geographical and social network visualisations. It is particularly useful for managing historical data and analysing changes over time. This presentation will highlight all the features of nodegoat that are indispensable for any digital humanities project and will showcase a variety of successful nodegoat projects.

• Assessment of the data in the current database and needs/wishes for the new database
• Assessment of the nodegoat data model and imported data
• Development of a plan for the remaining imports and changes to the data model

• Learn how to enter data into nodegoat
• Learn how to filter and visualise data in nodegoat
• Applying Conditions and Network Analysis in nodegoat
• Development of a first draft of the public user interface
